Understanding the Strategic and Sequential natures of the 6 R’s of Church Renewal

The renewal of a church always begins with those who seek the Lord through prayer by asking for guidance, seeking help and knocking on doors of opportunity. This usually results in a Titus Task Force Church Weekend Assessment. The Titus Team sees an assessment as a response to your seeking help, and the assessment report as identifying the doors of opportunity available to you. The Strategy of Renewal is generally progressive in nature as exhibited in the sequential nature of  our Six Steps of Renewal..

First, the clarifying and resolving of conflicts disarms those who are in combative relationships within the congregation, and allows for the healing of the wounded. This is on-the-job training for the church leadership and members in doing the work of peacemaking.

Second, the restoring of leadership is begun through the resolving of conflicts. By taking ownership of the problems, the church leaders demonstrate the process of repentance and forgiveness while learning to be pro-active problem solvers and to think strategically for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

Thirdly, the refocusing of the church in its Biblical purpose (mission) of  “discipling the nations.” is begun by the strategy of 1) clarifying of values 2) consensus on a vision and 3) the planning, preparation (training) and support of the “saints doing the work of the ministry.” This takes place after the learning experience of the first two steps.

Fourthly, the regrouping of the church is manifested with the seeking, recruiting and bonding of  various ministry teams by the  Servant-Leadership Team’s modeling. This process is finalized in the transition of the Servant-Leadership Team and Intentional Interim Pastor to the new Senior Pastor and Pastoral Team.

Fifthly, the revitalizing of worship comes by providing a safe refuge for celebration and contemplative worship and empowering the saints to 1) seek out avenues of ministry 2) utilize their spiritual gifts for the corporate good of the Body 3) come under the authority and support-mentoring of the church’s servant-leaders.

Sixth, the re-staffing of the new pastoral team is completed with the prayerful selection, calling and installation of the new Senior Pastor. The installation is a key transition event as the Intentional Interim passes the baton of pastoral leadership to the new Senior Pastor.
